the ecclesiastical as well as the civil interests of the nation devolve upon the civil magistrate.
The question as to the right of the civil magistrate to impose religious articles of faith or rules of worship will recur again under chapter xxiii.
It follows also that both the civil magistrate and the ecclesiastical courts must have the right of enforcing obedience by a mode of discipline appropriate to both spheres of authority.
